Second Life of Halo 3
October 14, 2007 - 9:13pmI had all but given up on being able to play through Halo 3 single player when I decided to give it one last shot. I started up the console yesterday, played through to the "unreadable disc" point...and it let me through! Wooo! Between yesterday and today, I've managed to make it from the beginning of stage four to the end of stage eight (well, close to the end). Since Halo 3 only has nine stages, I'm nearly all the way through the game. I guess I could always play it again at a higher difficulty level, but I'll probably just take up permanent residence in multiplayer once I'm done. I've definitely gotten better at managing weaponry and controlling my fire...so who knows, maybe I'm finally ready for ranked games. :P
In other news, there seems to be a resurgence of brand activity in Second Life lately. It's like virtual Darwinism or something. The surviving brands are evolving and, as it seems, being joined by a new migration. Circuit City has quadrupled its landarea (from an IBM ride-along to a four-island sim), Ben & Jerry's has set up an awesome installation, and I've encountered a few international brands I never knew existed before. Anyway, right now I'm trying to scope out a new "home" location - I evicted myself from my old one on October 1st. I'm a harsh landlord, what can I say. ;) I have lots of interesting new places to choose from now - even Clemson University has a virtual campus!
